Lee Smith MSc, BACPR, CRDET, FMSC

Founder, Specialist Health & Fitness Consultant and Lead Trainer at Aspire 4 Health

Since starting in the profession over 25 years ago, Lee's passion is and has always been to help people achieve the best quality of life in terms of enhancing their health and fitness whilst managing any existing injuries or medical conditions. Lee formed Aspire 4 Health more than 16 years ago to fulfil that passion. Having studied for both his BSc and MSc degrees at the highly respected Leeds Metropolitan University (Carnegie), his special interest is helping people optimise their bodies in terms of muscular balance, postural awareness, and biomechanics in order to prevent inefficient movement and ultimately injury. Lee completed his Functional Movement Screen (FMSC) certifications and regularly assess clients movement patterns at baseline and throughout his programmes to optimise the clients results. Lee is also a REPS (now CIMPSA) level 4 Advanced Instructor who was one of the first 8 people in the country who was approached by the British Lung Foundation to become certified to work with pulmonary patients. Since then Lee has become Nationally certified to work with both Cardiac (British Association of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation) and Pulmonary (Chronic Respiratory Disease Exercise Training) related conditions. 

In terms of experience Lee has worked with numerous rehabilitation programmes including the Heartwatch Phase IV Coronary Care group in Leeds as well as taking the Wharfedale Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV Exercise class in Otley and the Halifax Pulmonary Rehabilitation programme in association with the Halifax Breathe Easy scheme. In addition Lee has run Fitness Beyond 50 exercise classes for over 15 years and continues to do so today.  Along with this Lee has worked with hundreds of clients over the years of all ages and backgrounds. Lee has a wide range of experience which includes working with people with chronic pain and injury through to preparing people to climb Mount Everest, sail across the Atlantic Ocean or get themselves fit for their sporting events. In terms of sports conditioning Lee has done consultancy work for numerous professional football teams including Huddersfield Town, Bradford City and Scunthorpe United as well as  working one to one with professional athletes and other teams such as the City of Bradford Men's and City of Leeds Women's Waterpolo teams.

Dr Gareth Davies, MD, FRCP

General Physician, Gastroenterologist
and Lead General Medicine Consultant for Aspire 4 Health

As well as being a practicing general physician and gastroenterologist for 23 years Gareth has specialised and undertaken research in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive, liver and biliary disorders and has expertise in the role of nutrition in health. Dr Davies qualified from Westminster Hospital, London in 1984 with MBBS and a First Class Intercalated Degree.  Postgraduate training in London and Leeds includes an attachment to St James’ Hospital’s Liver transplant Unit, and research into both the effect of drugs on the ‘leaky gut’ and anti-inflammatory drugs and gut permeability for the award of MD (Postgraduate Doctorate Degree). He was also jointly awarded a Yorkshire Cancer Research Grant to investigate the effects of stomach injury caused by H.pylori.

Outside of work Gareth has also worked with Aspire4Health for many years to prepare for a number of endurance challenges, including cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats, Everest Base Camp Trek, and a trans-Atlantic yacht race raising funds for UNICEF.

Gareth recently joined the Aspire 4 Health team to offer a Medical Online Consultation service to assist with the diagnosis of symptoms, management of conditions and illness prevention strategies.

Seb Davies BSc (hons)

Chartered Physiotherapist and Sports Masseus

After qualifying in 2018 as a Chartered Physiotherapist Seb has over three years experience rotating in the NHS including major trauma, orthopaedics, respiratory and elderly rehabilitation. Seb has gained experience working in a busy teaching hospital in Sri Lanka and in multiple outpatient clinics dealing with muscle-skeletal injury. Seb has worked as the physio for Gordonians RUFC and is also qualified in sport massage. Seb was keen to work with Aspire4Health as he shares Lee’s values of creating holistic, personalised healthcare programmes and is excited to add his skills and expertise to empower his patients to overcome injuries and optimise their physical capabilities.
